Both In the Weightroom and Out

So just what in the hell am I talking about and why is there an old school Arby's sign in this post!!?

Well sit back and listen (well read) this story from way back in the day and I'm taking the mid-90's. I was waiting tables at Dick's Last Resort on the Riverwalk in San Antonio; Coaching at UTSA full time and if that wasn't enough I was also going to school at UTSA full time and still training hard and winning Texas State Powerlifting Championships!!

Back then the girl I was dating would bring me 5 Arby's roast beef sandwiches down to Dick's and here's the best part... it was only $5 back then!!  Of course now that I look back I can see how this probably wasn't the best thing with the amount of sodium that was in those 5 sandwiches along with the horseradish sauce I would put on them but man they were good and so was the pint of Häagen-Dazs chocolate and peanut butter ice cream that she brought for me too!!!

NOW THAT'S HOW YOU GAIN WEIGHT!!

Back then I struggled to gain weight and now like every one else my age I struggle to get it off!!

So there's another part to the 5 for 5 story and it goes like this... one of my favorite sessions is

5 Behind the Neck Press + 5 Overhead Squat and I do this before I squat!!!

The first time I met Aaron Ausmus of Pen and Paper App fame and Sorinex we talked about training and I told him about my 5+5 I did before I squatted and he had this huge smile and told me that he loved doing 5 +5 and we both used the $5 Arby's special to put on that body weight!!!  He was jealous of the ice cream and the fact the girl I was dating use to bring it down to me all the time!!!

It was a wonderful and simpler time and to be completely honest ... a time that I miss dearly

Well time to head to bed!!!
